How Much Does it Cost to Become a Tree Surgeon? - The DTE Academy
Working as a tree surgeon in the UK appeals to people who enjoy being outdoors, who like a challenge and who perhaps feel they have a special affinity with nature. If that all sounds like you and you would really appreciate the opportunity to earn a decent living doing something that you genuinely enjoy, it could be the perfect career move to make. However, without any formal training or experience, it may be difficult for you to find an opening that suits you. We believe the best course of action to take for anybody who would like to become a tree surgeon is to take an accredited course. The fees for these can be substantial though so you need to consider your options carefully.
If you are thinking of pursuing a career as a tree surgeon there are a couple of things you need to consider. The first is whether or not you will be comfortable working at height. Tree surgeons often need to scale trees and work some distance above the ground. If you have a fear of heights, tree surgery is not for you.
The other consideration is cost. As in, how much does it cost to become a tree surgeon? The good news is that, compared to many other occupations, the cost of training to become a tree surgeon is very reasonable. And you won’t have to spend 4 years at university to earn your qualifications.
So How Much Will It Cost to Become a Tree Surgeon If You Are Completely New to the Industry?
The cost to become a tree surgeon in the UK today depends on a number of factors, such as the type of training you enrol in, the training provider you choose and whether or not you can find an employer who is willing to sponsor some or all of the training you receive. If we assume that you are going to have to pay for the training yourself, which is normally the case, and that you plan to enrol in a comprehensive course, you will be looking at spending several thousand pounds in most cases. Without knowing which training provider you are going to choose, it is difficult to be more accurate than that. Unless, of course, you decide to train with us.
